Wick Speaks! is a new project bringing together a range of Hackney Wick residents and workers who've previously been isolated from each other in lockdown.
The People Speak is collaborating with long-time local guide Hackney Tours to celebrate the diversity of the Wick. Using Talkaoke - a live pop-up talk show on the streets of the Wick we will create an interactive tour of the local area through the eyes of the local community.
The project aims to employ 2 new Creative Project Assistants to support the outreach and delivery of Wick Speaks! You will receive training in The People Speak and Hackney Tours methodologies, mentoring and support in pursuing further professional opportunities within the creative industries beyond the project.
As the Freelance Creative Project Assistant, you will be based or working in Hackney Wick and be representative of the area's diversity. You will engage with the members of the local community predominantly from under represented groups. You will work with the project team on delivering Talkaoke - a live talk show, carrying out interviews with Participants, and co-creating a Tour of the area through the eyes of its residents. You will be an outgoing person wanting to make a positive contribution to the local community. You will be working from home and various project locations. You will have access to basic technology (smartphone, computer).
Wick Speaks! funded through the Mayor of London's Creative Enterprise Zone will enable us to employ and upskill some E9 freelancers who had been hit by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
