This job has now Expired!!

Sew Creative is hiring!

The studio is soon to be moved to a larger premises, meaning we will be able to offer a larger timetable — but we need help!

We are interested in hearing from experienced dressmakers and seamstresses. All of the Sew Creative classes are ‘free sew’ where each individual is able to choose what they would like to make, instead of everyone making the same item. This therefore requires the right candidate to be able to think on their feet and give advice and assistance on a wide variety of projects in one lesson!

The vast majority of our customers opt to learn how to make clothing, however an understanding of how to make a variety of home furnishings (cushions, curtains, etc.) and quilting would also be beneficial. You will need experience in working with, and altering, patterns, fitting and altering garments and a knowledge of a wide variety of fabrics, trimmings and sewing methods.

A Sew Creative class is not all about the sewing! Our classes are like mini communities, with regulars booking up their space weeks in advance. The ideal candidate will be able to create a happy and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the door, ensuring that everyone leaves feeling like they have achieved something.

No formal teaching qualification is required, however would be beneficial. Additionally, there is also no requirement for the right candidate to have a formal textile or fashion qualification, as many people learn from family members, or in places like Sew Creative!

The position would be Tuesday to Saturday covering approximately 27 hours a week, however this may alter during holiday periods, with potential to increase the hours over the coming months, should you wish to do so. There is also the option to work additional hours, hosting parties. The salary is £8/hour, however this would be under review after the probation period. The right candidate would also be required to partake in a workplace trial prior to employment, as well as undertake a full CRB check.
